“Voices and Votes: Democracy in America”
July 28, 2026

In partnership with the Museum on Main Street program, Indiana Humanities has selected seven sites across Indiana to host the traveling Smithsonian exhibition, “Voices and Votes: Democracy in America” beginning in January 2026.
The exhibition brings discussions about America’s democracy to small towns during the Semiquincentennial, which commemorates the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. As part of the program, each site will also curate a section of the exhibit that explores their community’s story of civic engagement.
Congratulations to the City of Angola Municipality (Angola), Orange County Convention and Visitors Bureau (French Lick), Imagine:nation, the arts & cultural council of Rush County (Rushville), Upland Historical Society (Upland), The Prindle Institute for Ethics and Association for Practical and Professional Ethics (Greencastle), Jennings County Historical Society (Vernon), and the Community Foundation of Whitley County (Columbia City) — we can’t wait to see what you come up with!
